PETITION:   NO   WHITEWASH

A whistleblower has come forward with serious allegations that researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) violated scientific guidelines and used flawed data on a key global warming study.

According to media reports, Dr. John Bates, a climate scientist and former official with NOAA, says this was done to avoid proper data quality checks and influence the 2015 UN climate summit in Paris.

Bates alleges a top NOAA researcher sought to “maximize warming and minimize documentation” by, among other things, using inferior temperature data from ships to “adjust” superior data from weather buoys, and by making it difficult to check or reproduce results.

NOAA replied, “In the interest of maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and scientific integrity, we are in the process of engaging independent outside parties to review this matter.”

The American people need to be able to trust government temperature data. Relying on an agency to police itself, even when it selects its own outside auditors, does not meet the public’s need for full transparency. We cannot allow vested interests promoting “global warming” to be in charge of the investigation and potentially whitewash this review of NOAA.

We therefore call on President Trump and his administration to appoint a neutral team of independent auditors and researchers to ensure the investigation of NOAA’s climate practices is genuine and unbiased.
